Research Reports

Writing a high-quality stock research report requires a balance of rigorous data and a compelling narrative.

This is how I will be formatting my research reports.

1. The Executive Summary & Recommendation

  • The "Bottom Line": Clear rating (Buy, Hold, or Sell) and a 12-month target price.
  • Investment Thesis: A 2–3 sentence summary of why the market has mispriced this stock.
  • Key Catalysts: Specific upcoming events (earnings calls, product launches, regulatory rulings) that will force the market to re-price the stock.

2. Business & Industry Analysis

  • Revenue Drivers: Break down exactly how the company makes money.
  • Competitive Advantage: Use Porter’s Five Forces to evaluate the company’s viability
  • Industry Trends: Address global themes

3. Financial Analysis & Forecasting

  • Earnings Quality: Look beyond the Adjusted EBITDA. Check the cash flow statement to ensure net income is backed by actual cash.
  • Capital Allocation: How is management spending its money? Look for a balance between R&D, dividends, and share buybacks.
  • Margin Expansion: In the current 2026 reflationary environment, focus on whether the company can pass rising costs (labor, energy) on to consumers.

4. Valuation Methodology

  • Discounted Cash Flow: For intrinsic value based on future cash flows.
  • Comparable Analysis: How does the P/E or EV/EBITDA ratio compare to peers or industry leaders
  • Scenario Analysis: Provide a bull, base, and bear with different target prices for each.

5. Risk Assessment

  • Macro Risks: Include sensitivity to interest rate shifts (Fed policy) and geopolitical tensions (tariffs).
  • ESG & Governance: Evaluate carbon footprint, board independence and executive compensation.
